Quote of the Week.

"Saying that someone shouldn't feel sad because somebody out there might have it worse, is like saying that someone can't be happy because someone might have it better."

It's Okay.

It's okay that sometimes you feel broken.
It's okay to cry.
Eventually you need to pick yourself up though.
It's okay to make mistakes.
It's okay to depend on others.
Just learn to grow.
It's okay to be happy.
It's okay to feel beautiful.
Confidence is a wonderful feeling.
It's okay that you want to eat a cookie.
Being healthy and starving yourself are two very different things.
It's okay that you have those butterfly feelings for that boy.

It's okay.
We're all human.

Happy Valentine's Day.

Today is a day that's super cute and fun.

But don't let what happens on this day define how you feel about yourself. It's not worth feeling bad about yourself. It really isn't. Calm down and have fun. Everything that's supposed to happen will happen.

Quote of the Week.

"Brothers and sisters, the most powerful Being in the universe is the Father of your spirit. He knows you. He loves you with a perfect love."

Do Not Stray Away My Little Lamb.

Come and take a walk with me. It'll just be for awhile... Of course you don't really have to come if you don't want to. I won't force you, but I'll tell you now that a great prize is at the finish. In fact it's a prize so wonderful, you can't even comprehend the worth of it.
    Oh good, you're coming!
Okay now, take a deep breathe. Don't be nervous, take my hand. Don't let go, because sometimes the trail gets foggy and you might slip in the mud.
Just don't let go.
    Okay?
Now tell me, what do you see?
Everyone sees it a little bit differently, what's around us is completely unique to you. It's just for you. Pretty amazing right? I thought so too. As I look around I see that we are walking on a very thin trail, it's mostly dirt and makes my feet dusty. Over here I can see fields of beautiful green plants and sunflowers for miles and miles. It almost looks like we could be heading towards a ranch... Smell the air, it's so clean, fresh and feels good...
Keep walking! Moving forward is an adventure! The sun is high and we are young, come, come.
Now since we have awhile and it doesn't appear that the gorgeous scenery around me will be changing any time soon, I'm going to tell you a secret. Don't worry, it's nothing very tragic at all, no no. It will not weigh you down. You see, for a very long while now I've been helping many different kinds of people along this road, the same as with you. They're all at some place different on this pathway, but nevertheless we are all reaching for the same goal. What makes this path different from other pathways, is that it can be very hard to follow sometimes. It can awfully scary when you aren't prepared or expecting it.
Sometimes a voice will tell you to let go of my hand and to go play a quick game out in the fields. Usually you will lose this game and when you are discouraged you will turn to come back, and find that you have traveled further away than you thought. You won't be able to find your way back for what feels like a very long time, and this quick walk will turn into a long hike. Luckily for you, there is always a way to find your way back. You will never get left behind, unless you choose to fall back. Never will you use all your chances up. That's why this isn't a scary secret. It should give you hope, because it means that someone is looking out for you.
I know this because I've had to walk this very same trail myself, but now my job is to come and guide you. I've seen many children and adults alike get led astray, don't let that dampen your hope though! This beautiful adventure will make you a stronger person if you allow it to.
But I can't explain it all right now, you have to learn some things for yourself.
...Stop, look ahead, do you see the darkness? The smog? We're going to have to go through it, but that's okay. we can take baby steps.
    Just don't let go.
Squeeze my hand, I won't let go unless you go first, if you walk away I won't be able to stop you. As long as you stay with me, it'll be okay. I promise.
Are you ready? We need to keep going, even if it seems hard.
    Alright.
It gets a little bit harder to breathe, look down at your feet, make sure they're on the trail, a lot of children have walked off on accident. There you go, you're doing great! I'm so glad you came with me. I think we'll be out soon, maybe you'll see mountains next or a sparkling ocean...
Look, we did it! I'm so proud of you, you're so strong. And wow, you didn't even try to leave! How wonderful you are. Now look, I see that we're in a valley, these land forms are incredible; with the sun setting it's a wonderful sight.
Which reminds me, I have to go now. But don't worry, if you ever need help or need someone to walk with for awhile just call out, help will always come. It's not always very fast, but it will come. I promise.
Here take this, it's a compass since you won't be able to feel my hand. It will guide you, just like I'm doing right now. Now whatever you do, don't give up. There is always hope. That compass will never fail you, just don't let your mind trick you into thinking it will. Because even if you can't see me, you will be able to sense me and hear my voice.
I love you very much and I can't wait until I see you again.
    Good luck.

Voices #2.

There's something about One Direction that is so incredible. Their voices just make my heart heave and give my stomach butterfly-like feelings. I truly do believe musically talented people are a blessing.

When You Agree to Play the Game, the Devil Makes the Rules.

Quote of the Week:

"If you cross to the Devil's side of the line one inch, you are in the tempter's power. And if he is successful, you will not be able to think or even reason properly. Because you will have lost the Spirit of the Lord."

Look At Your Hands.

I've got this weird obsession with hands. I can't really explain it... This sounds so odd now that I'm writing it down.
But I think that hands are beautiful and tell a story about that person.
Maybe they have long fingers that are used to reach for piano keys.
Or scarred from the hard work of physical labor.
They might be dark and rough from years of age.
Or smooth and plump in youth.

When ever I first meet someone, I look at their hands. Sometimes I just want to hold it, look at all the detail. There's so much meaning.
And when I stand before the Savior, I hope I can be worthy of touching his hands. So I can feel the scars from the nails, when he hung on the cross for me. The hands that prayed for me and saved me from my sin.
Sometimes I look at my own hands and wonder what they say, what story do they tell? ...
One day I want to know... And later I really want someone's to hold too.

The Lady (Man) in the Glass.

Yesterday in my Seminary class one of the jocks who plays football and usually sits in the back while playing on his phone, shared a poem with us that really hit home to me. We were talking about how God is with us through trials, and how the atonement is here for us to use, not to be ashamed of asking for help. It was even more of an amazing experience to have a boy who is not the most in tune with the Gospel, cry out with a mighty voice and such a strong Spirit.
The original poem by, Dale Wimbrow is from a man's point of view, but since I'm a girl, I decided to modify it to be more feminine:

When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you queen for a day,
Just go to a mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that lady has to say.

For it isn't your father or mother or husband,
Whose judgement upon you must pass;
The woman whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.

She's the lady to please, never mind all the rest.
For she's with you clear up to the end,
and you've passed the most dangerous, difficult test
If the lady in the glass is your friend.

You may be like Jack Horner and 'chisel' a plum,
And think you're a wonderful guy,
But the lady in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look her straight in the eye.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years.
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward is heartache and tears
If you've cheated the lady in the mirror.

Remember who you are. Never back down from your standards. Because one day they'll be the things Christ sees and that you are accountable for.
Live in a way that makes you proud.
